Prospect has developed 5 self-contained flats and a training flat as part of new housing and support services for people with mental health support needs in Caterham.

Handover of the facility took place in September 2013. The building was formerly a large shared house. With the help of development grant funding, Prospect has developed it into five one person flats.

One of the flats is designed to be accessible for a person with complex physical needs as well mental health needs.

Being self-contained, the model allows the tenants more privacy, control of their environment and access to more personalised models of support whilst having the opportunity to interact with neighbours and staff outside their flat.

Part of the initiative is that building has been equipped with wireless web access for the tenants. This enables tenants to access online support and information to aid their recovery and in addition enable access to appropriate and innovative support technology.

    The design includes:

 A staff facility on site.

 Training flat and kitchen that will allow tenants to develop their social and life skills as part of their recovery plan.

 In keeping with Prospects environmental commitment the building design includes a quiet and attractive wildlife friendly garden enhanced planting and nest boxes for improved biodiversity.

 Referrals are received via Health and Social Care Services.
